  What is Building Green?

What is a HIGH-PERFORMANCE Home?

To qualify as a High Performance Home, a residence must be least 30% more energy efficient in its heating, cooling and water heating than a comparable home built to the Model Energy Code (MEC). Such an energy-efficient home will receive a score of 86 points or more on the 100-point E-Star Home Energy Rating Scale. High Performance Homes can receive the ENERGY STAR® label, issued by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

High Performance Homes
A High Performance Home built by GreenHaus can benefit you in several ways:

  • Saves money. High scores on the E-Star Home Energy Rating mean your home will generate lower utility bills.
  • Increased comfort. Quality windows, high-efficiency heating systems, and increased insulation in walls and attics and around pipes and ducts improve the comfort level of your home.
  • Improved Home Durability. High Performance Homes incorporate durable construction practices that increase the life and sturdiness of your home.
  • Healthy air. Careful use of vapor barriers and conscious ventilation, improve moisture control and indoor air quality.
