The Green Building Initiative (GBI)
The GHBA Green Building Initiative (GBI) is a voluntary green building program available to all GHBA members. The program serves the Greater Houston region to promote healthy, energy and water efficient homes that reduce utility costs and use recycled, renewable and/or reclaimed materials that protect the environment.
What is LEED-H?
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Homes (LEED-H) is being developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), along with local and national stakeholder groups, to provide national consistency in defining green home features. It serves as the consensus standard for green home building, providing an essential tool for homebuilders, homeowners, and local governments in building environmentally sound, healthy, and resource-efficient places to live.
